Edit: It’s Prime Day and I’ve compiled a short list of 5 big deals you need to be aware of: Best Prime Day Deals
My love for all things Amazon started a couple years back during my college education. I desperately needed books as soon as possible, but barely anywhere offered one-day delivery; and those that did charged at extortionate prices. I grew up with Argos, Waterstones and WHSmith so Amazon was really the last place I was looking to order from. Then I heard that they offered Amazon Prime for free for 30 days AND you could cancel during the trial without it ending abruptly or charging you at all. Since then Prime has never let me down, whether it’s a last minute birthday present or a new game I need urgently for my Sony PS4; Prime is incredibly useful.
One of the amazing things about Amazon is that each year around this time in July, they host a massive discount event and the items are more heavily discounted than they are on days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. During Prime Day, over 400 items are sold every second to cheap sods like myself looking for the best bargains money can buy. Well if you’re like me, I’m here to help. Because there are an assortment of amazing services offered by Amazon that you won’t find at a cheaper price on any other day of the year, here’s what you can look forward to:
You’ll need Prime to make full use of Amazon Prime Day which is fine because it’s totally worth it. Like I already mentioned, you don’t necessarily have to pay the $99 fee for the service if you don’t want to. You can simply opt for the 30 day free trial and immediately cancel it if you believe 30 days is enough for you (I’ve been using it for 2 years so take what you will from that). You’ll be able to participate in over 30 hours of deals along with your mates who are definitely not gonna miss this one (last year Prime Day was the biggest one ever for Amazon).

2. Prime Video
According to the Business Insider, Prime members view videos on Amazon 13.4 times a month – which is more than Netflix. I had Amazon Video included in my student trial and I can’t tell you how brilliant it was. Anytime I liked I could watch amazing movies like the Dark Knight Rises or Mad Max. And when I felt like settling down into a series, I tuned into the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Power and even some exclusives like critically acclaimed Mr Robot.

3. Amazon Music
Prime members are eligible for access to over 2 million songs ad-free and on demand for only $0.99. When you compare this to services like Spotify whose best deal so far has been $0.99 for 3 months, you’re getting a whole month more for the same price. You can also download for offline listening which I found very useful during my stay at Uni where the internet was utterly rubbish. But be quick! The account and offer must be activated by 11:59pm (PT) July 11th.

You can also partner this with the Amazon Echo which allows you to utilize voice commands such as ‘Alexa, play relaxing dinner music’ when you’ve got a hot date over 😉

4. Kindle Unlimited
We don’t read nearly as much as we used to, or as much as we need to. We consume more bias content from the media than we do the original source. The Amazon Kindle is a great way of embracing the modern era and at the same time staying properly educated. Kindle Unlimited gives you unlimited access to over 1 million titles, current magazines and unlimited audiobooks – all to any device.
After you subscribe to Prime you can enjoy a 30 day free trial of Kindle Unlimited. But if you’d rather jump straight in and make use of the current discounts available – going up to as high as 40% off.

If you haven’t heard of Audible yet then that rock you’re living under is about to be smashed to pieces. We all learn in different ways, some of us are visual learners whereas some of us benefit greater from just listening. I’ve recently been listening to Elon Musk’s ‘Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future’ while in bed or on the road and I’ve learnt so much about business and technology without even trying.
